Czech police have charged four individuals and one company in a human trafficking case involving the adult content platform OnlyFans, according to the National Centre for Organised Crime. The suspects allegedly targeted young women who had just turned 18, luring them into producing erotic photos and videos before signing management contracts that promised to boost their careers on social networks.

In a statement released Tuesday, authorities said the perpetrators used psychological pressure—including contract penalties and withholding payments—to coerce the women into creating “more explicit, bolder, more attractive and more marketable erotic content.” The scheme generated 3.6 million koruna (€148,190) from direct subscriptions on the platform, while exploiting dozens of victims.

OnlyFans responded to the case, telling Euronews Next that the company is working closely with law enforcement “around the world to support their investigations and help keep our community of users safe.” The platform emphasized its investment in safety measures, including strict onboarding processes, payment controls, and ongoing account moderation.

The accused face prison sentences of between five and 12 years if convicted. This case adds to a growing list of human trafficking incidents linked to OnlyFans across Europe. In Spain, a minor was coerced by a trafficker into selling photos of her body. Romanian prosecutors have also alleged that manosphere influencer Andrew Tate recruited at least one woman into a human-trafficking operation and forced her to make pornographic content for the platform. Tate and his brother Tristan were indicted in Romania in 2023 on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang for sexual exploitation. The UK has authorized 21 charges against the brothers, who have since fled Romania and were last seen in Hong Kong in March.

Broader Context of Exploitation

A 2024 Reuters investigation uncovered more than 120 complaints filed with US police by OnlyFans creators who alleged they were featured in explicit content without their consent, with an additional 17 complaints in the UK. These cases highlight systemic vulnerabilities in the platform’s moderation and creator protection mechanisms.

In a related development, Italian police recently seized €200 million from the late mafia boss Messina Denaro's empire, underscoring the broader challenges of organized crime in Europe. Meanwhile, Portuguese authorities have arrested five individuals in a probe of a Socialist Party corruption network, reflecting ongoing efforts to combat illicit activities across the continent.

The Czech case serves as a stark reminder of the risks young women face in the digital economy, where promises of career growth can mask exploitation. As European law enforcement agencies intensify their focus on online platforms, the outcome of this trial could set a precedent for how such cases are prosecuted in the future.
