Dutch police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with a series of random stabbings that left two people injured in Rotterdam on Saturday morning. The attacks, which occurred in the western part of the city, have prompted a swift response from local authorities.
According to the Rotterdam police, the first two incidents took place on Schaepmanstraat and Marconiplein, both located to the west of the city centre. Two male victims were stabbed in what police described as "random" attacks. One of the victims was taken to hospital, while the other received treatment from paramedics at the scene.
Approximately thirty minutes later, a third stabbing attempt was reported at the Brug Van Cyrene bridge, in the city's northwest. Police have not confirmed whether this attempt resulted in any injuries.
In a statement posted on social media, the police said: "A single suspect, who is believed to have been travelling by car, is involved in the stabbings." The suspect was later apprehended, though details of the arrest have not yet been fully disclosed.
