Pop star Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner have married in a private civil ceremony at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall, marking a low-key start to their union before a more elaborate celebration planned in Sicily.
The couple, who first sparked romance rumours in January 2024 after attending a Masters of the Air party in London, exchanged vows on Sunday. Lipa, 30, wore a custom white skirt suit by Schiaparelli, designed by Daniel Roseberry, while Turner, 36, opted for a dark navy suit with matching shirt and tie. Photographs obtained by The Sun showed the newlyweds leaving the venue hand in hand.
Sicilian festivities on the horizon
According to reports, the couple will host a more lavish three-day wedding celebration in Palermo, Sicily, starting this Thursday. The event is expected to draw a star-studded guest list, including Sir Elton John, Charli XCX, Donatella Versace, and Simon Porte Jacquemus, founder of the fashion label Jacquemus. Jacquemus is rumoured to have designed one of the dresses Lipa will wear during the festivities.
The choice of Sicily for the second celebration reflects a growing trend among European couples to combine intimate civil ceremonies with larger destination weddings. The island, known for its rich history and Mediterranean charm, has become a popular spot for high-profile nuptials. For those seeking inspiration for their own romantic getaways, a recent index highlighted top European destinations for a first couples' holiday, though Sicily itself was not among the top picks.
Lipa, born in London to Albanian parents from Kosovo, has become one of Europe's most successful pop exports, with hits like "New Rules" and "Levitating." Turner, an English actor known for roles in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and The Capture, has built a steady career in film and television. Their wedding, while private, has drawn attention across the continent, underscoring the cultural ties between the UK and the wider European entertainment scene.
The couple's decision to marry in London, a city that remains a global hub for both music and film, is fitting. The UK capital continues to host major cultural events, from exhibitions like Winston Churchill's paintings to new transport links such as Lumo's budget rail service to Stirling. For now, however, all eyes are on Palermo, where the couple will celebrate their union in style.
