The French Alps are set to see a significant upgrade in luxury hospitality as two global hotel brands prepare to open properties in Courchevel 1850, one of Europe's most prestigious ski destinations. Raffles Hotels & Resorts, part of the Accor group, will debut its first alpine resort in the 2028 winter season, while Kerzner International's One&Only brand has announced plans for a resort and private homes in 2030.
Courchevel 1850, the highest-altitude village in the Courchevel valley, is known for its direct ski access, Michelin-starred restaurants, and exclusive boutiques. The new developments will be located in the Jardin Alpin, the most elevated and sought-after enclave of the resort, offering panoramic views of the Tarentaise Valley.
Raffles Courchevel: A New Alpine Benchmark
Raffles Courchevel is being developed in collaboration with Art de Vivre, a luxury hospitality investment firm. The resort will feature two restaurants with winter gardens and expansive terraces, an elegant tea lounge, and a spa with thermal experiences, a panoramic swimming pool, and a fitness centre. Some rooms will include private balconies overlooking the valley.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Art de Vivre, whose vision and dedication align perfectly with our own, to craft an exceptional and completely unique resort experience in the mountains,” said Omer Acar, CEO of Raffles Hotels & Resorts. Acar described the move as an “extraordinary milestone” for the brand as it explores alpine luxury for the first time.
Jonathan Lau, co-founder and CEO of Art de Vivre, emphasized the high standards required for Courchevel: “Courchevel 1850 is a destination that demands the very highest standards in design, service, and execution. In Raffles, we have found a partner whose storied heritage, cultural depth, and values are equal to this ambition.”
One&Only Enters the French Alps
Kerzner International's One&Only brand will open its first French Alps resort on the site of the historic Courcheneige Hotel, also in the Jardin Alpin. The property will include guest rooms and suites with mountain views, dining options from casual slope-side lunches to elegant apres-ski dinners, and a wellness centre with indoor/outdoor wet circuits, thermal experiences, and post-ski recovery therapies. A limited collection of One&Only Private Homes will also be available for purchase.
“With One&Only, we will bring a new spirit of alpine luxury to Courchevel,” said Philippe Zuber, CEO of Kerzner International. “One that celebrates the beauty, energy and soul of the French Alps, while inviting guests to experience the rare sense of freedom that defines One&Only.”
Juan Aguilar, President of Real Estate at Kerzner International, highlighted the strategic importance: “Courchevel represents one of the most exclusive residential and hospitality markets in the world, making this a landmark opportunity for Kerzner to bring One&Only to the French Alps.”
These developments come as luxury travel in the Alps continues to grow, with high-end resorts increasingly catering to a clientele that values wellness, gastronomy, and exclusivity. For those seeking alternatives to flying, the Jet Fuel Crisis: How to Reach Spain Without Flying as Airfares Surge offers insights into overland travel options. Meanwhile, the Prix Versailles 2026: Seven European Hotels Among World's Most Beautiful highlights other architectural achievements in European hospitality.
Both projects underscore a broader trend of global luxury brands investing in European alpine destinations, where the combination of natural beauty, skiing infrastructure, and high-end amenities continues to attract discerning travelers from across the continent and beyond.
