Initial negotiations between the United States and Iran on the implementation of a final nuclear agreement are set to take place this Friday at the Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne, a historic Swiss mountain retreat. The talks, which include mediators from Pakistan and Qatar, mark a critical step after months of conflict.

Perched on a 500-metre ledge above Lake Lucerne, the Bürgenstock Resort has long been a secure choice for sensitive negotiations. The area can be locked down with relative ease, and guests typically arrive via a 25-minute catamaran ride on the MS Bürgenstock followed by a funicular ascent. For relaxation, the Bürgenstock Alpine Spa is Europe’s largest hotel spa at 10,000 square metres, featuring five pools, including an outdoor infinity pool with panoramic views, an indoor lap pool, hot and cold plunge pools, four saunas, and treatment rooms. The choice of Switzerland as a neutral venue reflects a long tradition of diplomatic talks in the country.
