A man armed with two kitchen knives attacked three women in the Porte de Clichy district of northwestern Paris on Monday morning, French authorities confirmed. The suspect was apprehended by an off-duty police officer shortly after the assault, which occurred around 11:30 local time.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez praised the officer's intervention as a "courageous act" and confirmed that the attacker is now in custody. The minister urged caution about drawing immediate conclusions regarding the suspect's motives, noting that the individual made an "incoherent" statement upon arrest.
Victims and injuries
The three victims, aged 19, 24, and 36, were taken to hospital. According to local media, one of the women is pregnant. Nunez stated that two of the victims suffered serious wounds—one to the lower back and another to the abdomen—but both are now out of critical danger. The third victim sustained less severe injuries.
Authorities have not yet verified the identity of the attacker, and the investigation remains ongoing.
